Qld ex-bikie nabbed over cop pretence

A "stupid" former bikie has been arrested in Brisbane for allegedly trying to impersonate a police officer tasked with catching criminal gang members.

Police say officers were called to a motel at Eight Miles Plains last week after cleaners found methylamphetamine and cannabis in a room.

Later that night a man told motel staff he was a constable with the elite anti-bikie Taskforce Maxima and needed access to the room, but fled after being asked to produce police identification.

Police say the man, a 26-year-old former Bandidos member, was found at a home in Woolloongabba on Thursday.

He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 21 charged with impersonating a police officer, possessing dangerous drugs and attempted fraud.

An 18-year-old woman has also been charged with various offences after drugs were found at the Woolloongabba home and she will face the same court on July 27.

"This type of concerning behaviour typifies the criminal stupidity of some allegedly ex-OMCG (outlaw criminal motorcycle gang) members," Taskforce Maxima Detective Inspector Phillip Stevens said.
