Dad committed to trial over son's murder

A Queensland father charged with the murder of his 22-month-old son has been committed to stand trial.

Shane Arthur Simpson appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday over allegations he killed Baden Bond in Woodridge sometime between March and May 2007.

Simpson did not enter a plea but conceded to the matter being committed to trial in the Brisbane Supreme Court.

The 22-month-old was last seen on March 27, 2007 during a visit from the Department of Child Safety.

Police charged Simpson and Baden's mother, Dina Colleen Bond, with the toddler's murder in March 2017.

The prosecution tendered 86 statements and 113 exhibits as part of its brief of evidence to send Simpson's matter to trial in the higher court.
