Qld cyclist 'six times over the limit'

A Brisbane cyclist is facing criminal charges after he was allegedly caught riding his bike while six times over the legal alcohol limit.

Officers spotted the 42-year-old when he fell off his bike on to the road at Stafford about 8pm on New Year's Day.

He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 29.

Meanwhile, another driver was allegedly clocked doing 207km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Bruce Highway through Farleigh near Mackay on the same day.

Police say speeding and drink-driving continue to be a concern over the holiday period, with extra patrols across the state.

On Friday more than 1000 speeding fines were handed out and 224 people were caught drink-driving.
