Qld cops punched in head during pub brawl

Two police officers have been punched in the head from behind while trying to break up a brawl in inner Brisbane.

Five men have been charged with assault and other offences following the fight outside a West End pub just after midnight on Monday.

A male and female police officer both suffered cuts, bruising and swelling to the head and face.

Police believe a number of people involved in the brawl took off and were later involved in a car crash with a taxi after allegedly running a red light.

They were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
