Qld cop stood down over prisoner assault

A north Queensland policeman has been stood down for allegedly assaulting a prisoner.
The 49-year-old senior constable has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm against a man in police custody, which is being investigated by the Ethical Standards Command.
The officer has been given a notice to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on November 26.
