Qld cop stood down after assault charge

A Queensland police officer facing an assault charge has been suspended from official duty.

The 29-year-old senior constable from the state's south-eastern region was stood down on March 2 and officially suspended on Thursday.

He's due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on October 14.

The officer is the only one currently suspended from the south-eastern region, which encompasses both the Gold Coast and Logan areas.

However, four more male officers are now stood down including two senior constables, a senior sergeant and a sergeant.
