Qld constable stood down over crash

A Queensland constable has been stood down from the state's police service after being charged over a fatal traffic crash.

It is alleged the 29-year-old was involved in a crash that claimed the life of a woman who was riding on the back of a motorbike on the Warrego Highway at Wallumbilla, east of Roma, in May 2014.

He has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.

A marked police car was travelling in the same direction as the bike when the male rider lost control and both he and his female pillion passenger were thrown onto the road.

An ethical standards investigation was launched after the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The constable will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on May 15.
