Qld chief scientist seeks missing notes

Queensland's suspended chief scientist wants prosecutors to find a missing red notebook she says will help her fight fraud charges.

Suzanne Miller told Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday the notebook, which she says was seized by the Crime and Corruption Commission, contains vital information that could help contest the allegations she defrauded the government of about $75,000.

She is also seeking statements from three witnesses she believes will help her case.

Prosecutors say they have a number of notebooks relating to the case but none that match the one being sought by Ms Miller.

They have offered Miller, who is self-represented after being refused Legal Aid funding, the chance to accompany the arresting officer to the CCC headquarters to conduct her own search.

She has so far refused.

Miller faces 33 fraud charges and one of uttering a forged document.

They relate to allegations she used a state government-funded credit card to buy herself more than $30,000 of goods including a scooter, a polaroid camera, a drone and pink LED lights between September 2013 and July 2017.

The state's corruption watchdog also alleges she dishonestly gained private health insurance worth $45,000 as an employee of the Queensland Museum between February 2014 and July 2017.

The court heard on Monday that the Crown was still waiting on Bank of Scotland financial records relating to Miller, but that it had enough material without them to proceed to a committal hearing.

Magistrate Anthony Gett has given prosecutors until September 9 to provide Miller with the information she has sought.

The matter will be mentioned again the following week.
