Accused national bikie gang boss busted

Queensland police believe they have prevented an international bikie gang establishing a foothold in Australia after the arrest of the La Familia national president in Brisbane.

Christopher Yeoman, 34, appeared in court on Friday after being caught with a small drug lab, two stashes of meth, a stolen sawn-off shotgun and war medals, according to police.

Organised crime squad detectives also fear La Familia's Australian president may have access to other weapons not discovered during raids on his Brisbane home on Thursday afternoon.

He was denied bail in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday morning with Magistrate Nerida Wilson finding there was an unacceptable risk he would commit further offences if released.

"The defendant appears to be involved in gang activity and was armed with a weapon stolen from a break and enter," court documents state.

"He appears to be involved in the use, supply and production of dangerous drugs."

When police arrived at Yeoman's Kelvin Grove home they struggled to smash through the fortified front door.

But once inside they allegedly found shotguns, a taser, drugs and 32 compartments of a "box drug lab," the documents state.

"Within a specially modified can of WD40 police located a clip seal bag containing 28 grams of white crystal suspected of being methylamphetamine."

Hidden in Yeoman's couch was the sawn-off shotgun, ammunition for a .22 calibre rifle and a .410 gauge shotgun, police allege.

The shotgun was one of seven firearms stolen from a Jondaryan property in February.

The other six haven't been found.

"The defendant may have access to other weapons not located by police," court documents state.

Yeoman, who has an eight-page criminal history, was on bail for drug, weapon, domestic violence and traffic offences when he was arrested.

Police expect to lay more drug charges when forensic tests on items seized from his home are finalised.

At a press conference, Detective Inspector Bruno Asnicar said police had been monitoring La Familia's burgeoning presence in the state and said Yeoman's arrest has halted their growth.

"We targeted them specifically," he said.

Yeoman is not required to appear when his matter returns to court on June 5.
