Qld beaches the best in Australia

Whitehaven Beach in Queensland's Whitsunday Islands has taken out the title of Australia's best beach for the fourth year in a row.

Travel website Tripadvisor announced its 2017 Traveller's Choice Awards for best beaches on Wednesday, with Queensland dominating with six out of the 10.

Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast took out second place, followed by Noosa's Main Beach.

Burleigh Heads, Mooloolaba and The Strand at Townsville were the other three Queensland beaches to feature on the list.

Manly beach in Sydney finished fourth, ahead of Turquoise Bay and Cable Beach in Western Australia.

Emily Bay on Norfolk Island rounded out the top 10.

Tripadvisor also released its top 10 beaches in the world, with Brazil's Baia do Sancho taking out the coveted No.1 position.

No Australian beach made it to the list.

The annual awards are based on traveller reviews over a 12-month period.
