Qld airport arrest nets $240k in drugs

A man has been arrested at Brisbane's domestic airport after almost a quarter of a million dollars worth of the drug ice was allegedly found strapped to his body.

Drug squad detectives arrested the 20-year-old Mackay man at the domestic terminal on Tuesday and he was later charged with possession of dangerous drugs.

About 750g of methylamphetamine, or ice, with a street value of $240,000 was allegedly found in three separate packages strapped to his body.

The man appeared briefly in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday and he was remanded to reappear on September 28.

"Ice continues to be a drug of major concern to police and this seizure was significant in terms of the quantity seized," Detective Inspector Mark Slater said.
