Prospector goes missing in north Qld

A man who disappeared while prospecting for gold in remote north Queensland is the focus of a police search.

The man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was camping with a friend at Pentland, west of Townsville, when he left the site sometime around December 11.

He was reported missing on Tuesday, with his abandoned car discovered near a creek later in the day.
