Premier urges Karl to come to GC Logies

The Queensland premier has urged Today show host Karl Stefanovic not to follow through on his threat to boycott next year's Logies.

Annastacia Palaszczuk joked with the breakfast show personality following the announcement television's night of nights would be held on the Gold Coast in 2018.

"Come on Karl, you are a Queenslander deep down. I need you to come," she said on Friday.

"I am not one of these people, premier, who floats with the breeze on this," Mr Stefanovic responded.

TV Week editor Emma Nolan believed Mr Stefanovic would come around to the idea and believed celebrities would embrace the new location.

"Of course Karl's going to be on the red carpet," Ms Nolan told AAP on Friday.

"They'll all love it. I can see them coming up here and not just staying for one night but staying for a few days, bringing their families. It's a great way to showcase the state."

The Logies will be held at The Star casino at Broadbeach from July 18 next year.

It comes after the Victorian government announced on Monday it was ending its 30-year association with the awards night.
