Woman let go as police probe Mackay death
A Queensland woman who was being questioned about the death of a man in Mackay has been released from custody.
The 39-year-old man's body was found at a home in Bedford Road, Andergrove, in the central Queensland city's north around 4.30am on Sunday.
A 40-year-old woman was arrested but has since been released.
Mackay CIB officer-in-charge Detective Senior Sergeant David Tucker said police are waiting on the results of a post-mortem examination to confirm what caused the man's death.
Crime scenes have been set up at the property where the man was found and at a separate address where the woman was taken into custody, but no weapons have been identified.
"There is a huge amount of evidence and information that we need to gather before we even consider charges," Sen Sgt Tucker told reporters in Mackay.
He would not say what the relationship between the woman and the dead man was.
He said police were attempting to contact the man's relatives interstate.
