Toowoomba incident a 'misunderstanding'

A misunderstanding, not something sinister, was behind a police lock down of a Toowoomba shopping centre on Friday morning.

Officers searched the Grand Central Shopping Centre after being called there shortly before 6am following reports two armed men were seen in the complex.

But the incident was resolved "without any issue" at 8am after the pair were found to be carrying knives for employment purposes.

Cordons along streets including Victoria, Margaret, Little and Duggan were lifted and the shopping centre reopened around 8:30am.
