PM to tour cyclone-ravaged Yeppoon

Prime Minister Tony Abbott is visiting the central Queensland town of Yeppoon to see the worst hit areas from Cyclone Marcia.

Mr Abbott will meet Yeppoon residents on Thursday night as well as volunteers and local disaster management workers as the town continues its clean-up and repair efforts after the destructive category five cyclone.

More than 550 homes in Yeppoon and Rockhampton have been left inhabitable following the cyclone which hit on Friday.

Mr Abbott will start his tour at 7pm before having a BBQ with volunteers and agency personnel.
