Toxic spill cleaned up in Cairns

People have been allowed to return to businesses and homes that were evacuated after a toxic chemical spill in Cairns.

Two men were assessed by paramedics after they accidentally ruptured a container of acid in long grass at Dutton St, Portsmith around 9am on Thursday.

The pair did not fall ill and an emergency situation was revoked at 11.30am.
