Pedestrian hit, killed on Sunshine Coast

An elderly man has died after being struck by a reversing ute at Golden Beach on Queensland's Sunshine COast.

The 92-year-old was crossing Landsborough Parade with another man, aged 96, at about 2pm on Thursday when a ute reversing from a car park onto the side of the road struck the pair.

Both men were taken to Nambour Hospital, where the 92-year-old died on Friday as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

His 96-year-old companion remains in hospital.

The 48-year-old male driver of the ute was not physically injured.

The forensic crash unit is investigating.
