A female passenger in her late teens died at the scene, and the male driver and two other passengers were trapped in the vehicle.

Emergency services arrived and freed the victims, and one female passenger was then taken by helicopter to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

The 19-year-old driver and his 18-year-old male passenger were both in stable conditions, and were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital respectively.

Authorities are attempting to make contact with the family of the deceased passenger, a Queensland Police spokesman told 9news.com.au

Traffic diversions have been put place and motorists have been asked to avoid the area.

A police investigation into the crash is ongoing.
