Palmer suing for defamation over column

Clive Palmer has announced he will sue The Courier-Mail for defamation.

The former federal MP is bringing the legal action over an opinion piece published in the Queensland newspaper earlier this week.

Mr Palmer has featured heavily in the media in recent months as he faces scrutiny over the collapse of Queensland Nickel.

He was also photographed earlier this week boarding a 24-day, $10,000 a head cruise in Spain.

His defamation announcement on Wednesday did not specify why he was unhappy with the column, simply saying: "Reports on our operations by The Courier-Mail have been false."
