Pilot critical after plane flips while landing in Queensland

A pilot is fighting for his life after a light plane flipped while attempting to land at a north Queensland airfield.

The 68-year-old pilot and his female passenger became trapped in the plane at Woodstock, near Townsville, this morning.

Emergency crews spent hours freeing the pair and the pilot was flown to Townsville Hospital.

He remains in a critical condition.

The woman, aged in her 20s, suffered a laceration to her arm and was transported by ambulance to the same hospital.
