Three dead on Queensland roads

Three people are dead after two separate crashes on Queensland roads in the past 24 hours.

One person died after a motorbike and truck collided on the Gateway Motorway at Nudgee in Brisbane's north around midday on Monday.

Diversions are still in place and southbound lanes have been blocked off.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle rider and his pillion passenger have been killed in a collision with a car at Ellis Beach north of Cairns.

Police say the collision happened on the Captain Cook Highway at around 2.40pm on Sunday and the man and woman on the motorcycle died at the scene.

The driver and two passengers in the car were uninjured.
