Pair charged over Qld cop car ramming

Police have charged a man they shot in the arm after he allegedly tried to ram their patrol car in outback Queensland.

Police said they tried to intercept the man as he drove along the Landsborough Highway, about 80km north of Longreach, on Friday afternoon.

They shot him in the arm and took him to Longreach Hospital.

The 41-year-old man is facing two counts of evading police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and stealing as well as one count each of driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and attaching a number plate belonging to another vehicle.

A 32-year-old female passenger has been charged with two counts of stealing.

Both have been issued with notices to appear in the Longreach Magistrates Court.
