Pair arrested after multi-state joy ride

Two people have been arrested after they allegedly took a stolen car on a joy ride from southeast Queensland to NSW.

Police say the pursuit began when the pair sped away in their ute when officers tried to stop them in Logan, south of Brisbane, on Sunday night.

The two travelled at high speeds through Logan and south Brisbane before pulling into a service station at Tarragindi to refuel.

Police allege the driver rammed the ute into a police car as it arrived at the scene.

They headed north through two Brisbane tunnels, throwing a pair of jeans out the window.

The ute was then tracked heading in the opposite direction on the Gateway Motorway and M1 as it made its way to NSW.

It was stopped in the coastal town of Pottsville.

The 27-year-old man and 24-year-old woman are assisting police with their inquiries.
