One Nation adviser Sean Black will stand trial for rape in Queensland after being charged with the offence in May.

State law protecting the identity of a person charged with a serious sexual offence prevented the allegation against Black from being reported until he was committed to stand trial in September.

The 39-year-old has also been committed to stand trial for three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

The Brisbane Magistrates Court has previously heard the alleged offences are historical, with some dating back as far as 2007, however their details cannot be published.

A date has not yet been set for Black's trial in the Brisbane District Court.

Black is the media adviser to ex-Queensland senator Malcolm Roberts, who is now standing for the seat of Ipswich in the Queensland election.

He is also a former Logan City councillor and real estate agent.

He also previously worked on former Liberal National Party MP Michael Pucci's 2012 election campaign and was associated with the Labor Party in the 1990s.
