Queensland crashes leave two dead

A woman has died and a child has suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash in northern Queensland.
Police say the car veered off the road and crashed into trees and bushes near Innot Hot Springs about 3.15pm on Sunday.
The driver, a 50-year-old woman, died at the scene but an eight-year-old boy escaped with minor injuries.

The incident follows another fatal crash in central Queensland where a vehicle smashed into a culvert and tree at the side of the Bruce Highway near Koumala, south of Mackay around 4.45am.
The passenger, whose age and gender have not been revealed at this stage, died at the scene while the driver, a man, was taken to Mackay Base Hospital with serious injuries.
