Child dead, parents fighting for life after Beenleigh unit fire

A three-year-old boy has died and his parents are fighting for life after a unit fire in southeast Queensland.

Firefighters were called to the apartment on Manila Street in Beenleigh just before 10pm, to find the fire contained to the unit.

Five people – two adults and three children – were in the apartment and rescued by firefighters.

The two adults received serious, life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital, along with a four-year-old boy and one-year-old girl.

A third child, a three-year-old boy, received severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the cause of the fire is unknown but a crime scene has been established and investigators are on the scene.
