Man dies in central Qld crash

A man has died after his car hit a cement truck in central Queensland.

Police say the sedan and cement truck were travelling in opposite directions when they collided about 5.45am on the Bruce Highway at Benaraby, south of Gladstone.

Emergency workers tried to free the driver from the wreckage, but police confirmed the man, 32, died at the scene.

The driver of the cement truck was not injured in the crash.

Police are investigating the incident.

The Bruce Highway remains closed in both directions near the incident.
