A bikie has been arrested in NSW after being tracked by detectives over a sexual assault in Queensland.

The 28-year-old, from the Rebels motorcycle gang's Ballina chapter, was arrested in Moree, in northern NSW, on Wednesday.

Detectives from anti-bikie Taskforce Maxima tracked the man after he allegedly assaulted his former partner during a domestic violence incident in Toowoomba in southeast Queensland last month.

They've gone to Moree to extradite him to Queensland to face 23 charges, including five counts of assault, four counts of rape and three counts of indecent assault.

Detective Inspector Brendan Smith said the investigation, codenamed Operation Mike Durius, highlighted bullying tactics bikies used to commit offences and scare witnesses from contacting authorities.

"The courage of the victim in this instance is indicative of the change in community attitude," he said.

"Victims now come forward with confidence knowing they are supported and these offenders will face the consequences of their actions."

The man's extradition will be sought from Moree Local Court on Thursday.
