Six teenagers were arrested after police shut down an open house party, advertised on Facebook, in Townsville overnight.

Numerous fights were going on amid a crowd of 150 people when police arrived at the party at a home on Rodboro St, Berserker, at 11pm on Friday.

Officers broke up the fights and told the crowd to go home.

Six local teenagers were arrested for offences including being public nuisances and causing wilful damage.

Seven teens were also given tickets ranging from $112 to $341 for liquor offences.

Senior Sergeant Pickless said afterwards people should plan and consider the consequences of having an open party advertised on social media.

"We were fortunate in this case that no one appears to have been seriously injured. However, hopefully both organisers and people attending the party will think before they party in the future," he said.
