North Qld man threatens police with knives

A man brandishing two knives has threatened police officers outside a Townsville service station.

Police say the agitated man was spotted at 8.30pm on Wednesday standing in the middle of busy Nathan Street with the knives.

When he refused to co-operate, officers coaxed the 28-year-old into the carpark of a nearby service station and used an electro-shock weapon against him twice.

He is facing four charges, including being armed with intent to cause fear and seriously assaulting police.
