Premier Campbell Newman on his well-worn campaign catchphrase: "Now, you've heard that 'strong' word many times in this campaign. Why? Why do you ask? Because in uncertain times, you need a strong team that sticks to a strong economic plan."

Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk on why she's announcing a modest policy of $12 million for school nurses in the dying days of the Queensland election campaign: "I'm sorry, I make no excuses - this is an early-intervention program."

LNP - Pledged to support stage two on Gold Coast light rail project; $295 million for unsafe level crossings in Brisbane; new and upgraded Park'n'Ride spaces in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast.

Labor - $12 million over four years for 20 new school nurses.
