Never-before-seen evidence released in murder trial
Never-before-seen evidence has been released following the conviction of murderer Mark Sheridan Waden.
The 50-year-old was handed a life sentence this week for killing his ex-girlfriend Priscilla Brooten. A jury accepted Waden murdered Brooten after she discovered he was having an affair.

Police body-worn camera video that was played during Waden’s Supreme Court trial shows officers interviewing him at the front door to his Bracken Ridge home in Brisbane’s north in September 2018, two months after Brooten went missing.
“She’s been reported missing, and the dates sort of go back to when, roughly, when you guys stopped seeing each other,” an officer put to Waden.
“Any idea of where she might be?”
“Not really,” Waden replied.

“She’s not here at all by any chance?” the officer asked.
Body-worn camera video also shows Waden telling officers “we broke up end of June”.
“It wasn’t working, she was keeping secrets,” he said.

Waden told police that Brooten was on the run from immigration and was using him to stay in Australia illegally.
The evidence at trial convinced the jury to find Waden guilty of murder, even without Brooten’s body, which has never been found.
Waden is now serving a mandatory life sentence.
