Neighbours praised after Redcliffe fire

Quick-thinking neighbours are being praised for saving a couple with disabilities after a fire broke out at their home north of Brisbane.

Firefighters were called to the home in Redcliffe shortly after midnight on Friday and extinguished the blaze about 20 minutes later.

The man and woman, who are believed to have disabilities, were transported in stable conditions to Redcliffe Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after the fire broke out at the rear of the property.

"Both of them were having trouble walking and so it's a great thing for the neighbours to be aware of (them) and what they might need in these sort of times," Queensland Fire and Emergency Service's Mark Semple told ABC Radio.
