Neglected puppy case in Queensland court

A dog breeder accused of neglecting a toy poodle puppy that later died will have his case put before a Queensland court.

Wayne Nash is facing two counts of breaching a duty of care to an animal for his alleged mistreatment of the dog.

The RSPCA claims Nash sold the puppy, which was emaciated, flea-ridden and lethargic, in March 2014.

The buyer immediately took the pup to a vet who found it weighed just 200 grams and was suffering stomach palpitations from lack of food, the organisation alleges.

It's understood Nash, who isn't compelled to appear, may enter a plea during Friday's appearance at Beenleigh Magistrates Court, southwest of Brisbane.
