Multiple shots fired at Southport home

Three Gold Coast residents were lucky to escape injury after their house was sprayed with bullets in a drive-by shooting.

Occupants in a white ute pulled up at the Southport residence around 1am on Thursday, firing up to seven shots at the home.

Police say they were aimed at two people, who were in the top floor of the house.

The third person in the house was downstairs at the time.

"We believe they were targeted at occupants in an upstairs part of the house," Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Garrett said.

"There were no injuries but obviously the discharge of a firearm is of great concern to us."

Witnesses reported seeing flashes from the car, which sped away, police said.

Det Sen Sgt Garrett said the occupants of the house were known to police but the motives behind the shots remained unclear.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
