More staff could go over Qld abuse glitch

More heads could roll over a government computer glitch that meant about 1000 reports of suspected child abuse in Queensland schools never made it to police.

One official has already resigned over the failed OneSchool online reporting system. A coding error meant police never received low level reports of suspected child abuse made by school principals.

"There are certainly people that would need to answer for some of the actions they've taken," education department Director-General Jim Watterson has warned.

Mr Watterson wants senior officials to explain key points in a report, released on Monday, about what went wrong.

The review found no evidence that children suffered further harm as a result of the reports failing to reach police.

But it found there weren't enough checks and balances in place when the program was implemented under the former LNP government in January 2013, and that allowed a coding error to slip through unnoticed.
