More severe storms expected for Qld

Parts of central Queensland have been warned to expect severe storms on Wednesday, including damaging winds and large hail.

But forecasters say the town of Fernvale west of Brisbane, where dozens of homes were damaged by a supercell storm on Tuesday, is not in the firing line.

Wednesday's storms are expected to affect the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, and Maranoa and Warrego forecast districts on Wednesday afternoon.

The communities at risk include Roma, Mitchell, Injune, Mantuan Downs, Lorne and Carnarvon National Park, the Bureau of Meteorology says.

On Tuesday, a severe storm hit the town of Fernvale, west of Brisbane, damaging dozens of homes and businesses.

Four of the homes are uninhabitable, and one business, the popular local bakery, fears losses could amount to $100,000 after torrential rain flooded the premises.
