A one-year-old boy who was snatched from his mother's arms west of Brisbane, prompting an urgent police appeal for the public to help find him, has been located.

A man was seen pulling the boy from his mother's arms at the Ipswich suburb of Raceview about 11.30am on Saturday and is believed to have put him in a car.

Queensland Police issued an amber alert about 5:45pm local time, saying the boy was facing a 'significant risk' to his safety and describing the car he was believed to be put in.
