Mining town drug raids nab more than 30

More than thirty people have been arrested during a 17-month investigation into drug trafficking in the central Queensland mining town of Emerald.

Police said Operation Lima Siege, which wound up on Wednesday, involved raids on addresses in Emerald where drugs were being grown and sold.

Cannabis and ecstasy being brought in from the Gold Coast were also intercepted.

The operation netted more than $1 million in drugs and property, including 164 mature cannabis plants, 11 kilograms of dried cannabis and six purpose-built `grow houses'.

Police have charged 33 people with 103 offences including trafficking, supply, producing and possessing drugs.

Eight people arrested on the final day of the operation will face the Emerald Magistrates Court on November 4.
