Clive Palmer's globetrotting nephew has been given 11 days to return to Australia to be questioned over the collapse of Queensland Nickel.

Clive Mensink, QN's sole registered director, had been due to face the Federal Court on Thursday, but he failed to appear despite a summons requiring his attendance being issued by the court last week.

Federal Court Registrar Murray Belcher agreed to hold the matter over until February 20, when Mr Mensink must appear in person or risk a warrant being issued for his arrest.
