Four teenagers and a man face criminal charges over the bashing of two men at Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.
Police say a 22-year-old man was treated in hospital for facial injuries after he was attacked by a group of about 10 people on The Esplanade on Tuesday night.
A second man who came to his rescue was also assaulted by the group who threw chairs at a nearby restaurant.

Detective Inspector Greg Aubort said on Wednesday it was an unprovoked and sustained attack on two innocent men.
Two men, aged 34 and 17, will face Southport Magistrates Court in February on assault charges, while three juveniles, aged 16, 15 and 14, will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
