Mayhem as Qld driver flees at crazy speeds

A driver who caused mayhem as he tried to outrun police was clocked doing 120km/h in residential streets south of Brisbane.

Officers tried to pull over the man at Logan Central on Sunday afternoon after noticing his car had false number plates.

But the driver did an illegal u-turn at an intersection, forcing other cars to swerve out of his way.

It's alleged he then did burn-outs and caused plumes of smoke to cloud the road as he sped off.

The driver hit another car and was recorded at speeds of up to 120km/h as he sped through residential areas before abandoning the vehicle at Eagleby.

Dog squad officers arrested him a short time later.

The 32-year-old is facing a long list of charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while intoxicated, failing to stop, using false number plates and drug possession.

He will face the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.
