Massive python devours bat in Queensland backyard

A Queensland couple have documented the odd lunchtime feast of a huge python that lives in their backyard.

Sunshine Coast residents Mille Stoevring and Shane Tuer were quick to record the odd spectacle of the three-metre carpet python chowing down on a large bat – while still hanging from a tree.

"It's too gross," Ms Stoevring can be heard saying in video taken of the strange incident.

Photos of the incident have since been shared thousands of times off the Facebook page of Sunshine Coast reptile wrangler Stuart McKenzie since yesterday.

"I have seen a few photos of (snakes) eating bats but there are also things like possums, rats, other birds," Mr McKenzie told the Courier Mail.

"Those pictures are some of the coolest I’ve seen though, you don’t often see shots of the snake halfway through its feed."
