Man stabbed in chest in Mackay

One man is in a serious condition in hospital with a stab wound to his chest and another has been charged after a confrontation near the Queensland city of Mackay.

Police say the serious assault occurred at Bakers Creek just south of Mackay at around 7.30pm on Saturday.

A 46-year-old man was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a serious condition.

A 53-year-old Bakers Creek man who was taken into custody at the scene has been charged with unlawful wounding and is due to appear at Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday.
