Man slams into fire truck on Qld motorway

A Queensland driver has been cut free after his car slammed into a fire truck, leaving it wedged underneath.

Firefighters were attending a minor crash on the Pacific Motorway south of Brisbane and were out of their truck when another car slammed into the back of it about 4am (AEST) on Friday.

"The car went under a section of the truck. We had to use heavy-duty jacks to lift the truck ... and firefighters had to remove the driver's side door and the roof and lift the dash of the car to free the driver," a fire service spokesman told AAP.

The man was eventually pulled free through the rear of his hatchback and was rushed from the crash site at Rochedale South to Brisbane's Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The ambulance service said he was in a serous condition, with head, pelvic and leg injuries.

The fire fighters were not hurt, but their truck is damaged and has been towed.
