Gold Coast man discovers dead flatmate 'tied to chair'

A crime scene has been established at a Gold Coast apartment building after the discovery of a man's body.

Police say a flatmate of the man, believed to be in his 50s, discovered the body about 11.45am on Thursday at the Varsity Lakes apartment.

A woman seen at the scene has been taken away by police but officers would not confirm what role, if any, she had in the man's death.

They also would not confirm or deny reports the man had been found tied up in a chair.

Police investigations are ongoing.
