Man remanded for Brisbane woman's murder

A man accused of murdering a woman whose body was found in a Brisbane park has had his matter heard in court.

Bradley Scott Edwards, 34, did not appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday as he was remanded in custody over the murder of Ioli Hadjilyra, 26.

Ms Hadjilyra's battered and partially hidden body was found by council workers in a garden bed at Kalinga Park in Brisbane's north on September 4.

Detectives released Edwards' image as part of their investigation and arrested him in the inner north on Tuesday night after being alerted by members of the public.

Police believe Ms Hadjilyra, a talented sketch artist, may have had her clothing interfered with and attempts were made to hide her body.

Ms Hadjilyra was discovered alongside some of her sketches, with police unsure if they were in her possession or if they were dropped.

It's also unknown how and why she was in the area given she lived in the southern suburbs.

Police have traced her movements to the inner suburb of Spring Hill about a day before her death.

The matter has been adjourned to October 8.
