Man missing, boat washes up on Qld island

Police are searching for a man whose boat washed up on an island off the coast of central Queensland.

The 69-year-old man has been missing since Tuesday afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said the alarm was raised after he failed to return after launching his boat at the Notch Point boat ramp at Sarina, north of Rockhampton.

His boat was found on the nearby West Hill Island.

RACQ rescuers have reported the man's car was found still running at the boat ramp.
