Man missing after fire destroys house near Mackay

A man is missing after fire destroyed a home near Mackay in Queensland.

The blaze started at the home on Ridgewood Road in Farleigh at about 5.15pm this afternoon.

Emergency services arrived on the scene to find the house well alight, while the man residing in the house was not accounted for.

Police have established a crime scene due to the extensive damage to the building and fears over its structural integrity.

Further investigations and a search of the house will take place tomorrow.
